Climate Change Framework Action Plan for Adaptation for South East Europe (CCFAP)
Action plan approved by Five Western Balkan Countries
Ministers of the Republic of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro and the Republic of Serbia officially supported Climate Change Action Plan for Adaptation for South East Europe by approving the joint statement at the ministerial conference, held in Sarajevo on November 14th , organized by the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) and the Regional Environmental Center (REC).
The conference was final stage of one year long process of development of the action plan, within the project implemented by the REC, financially supported by the Royal Ministry of Foreign Affaires of Norway.
REC Executive Director Marta Szigeti Bonifert addressed to the participants of the conference emphasizing importance of the CCFAP document for successful respond to the challenges the whole Southeast Europe Region is facing.
As agreed at the conference, the action plan for combating climate change in SEE will be further disseminated within the UN Climate Change Convention parties but also to wider interested public, aimed in strengthening capacities for the ongoing implementation phase.
Based on the decision of the present environmental authorities, REC and to the Subregional Virtual Climate Change Center, Hosted by Republic Hydrometeorological Service of environment of Serbia, were given mandate to execute role of secretariat in support of the CCFAP implementation team formed by representatives of five countries.
Ministerial conference “Combating Climate Change in SEE” was first result of cooperation of RCC and REC within the Framework “Roadmap for environmental sustainability in SEE”.
